Share CD's & DVD's - Create a CD or DVD of all of your data and distribute it with a FREE version of Family Tree Legends. Family members can just pop in a CD and a special version of FTL will immediately launch and let them view data, make unlimited charts and reports, and print anything they'd like. There's never been a better way to share your hard work.

Fan Charts - This was our most requested feature prior to the release of version 5. We are very excited to offer this entirely new charting type. Multiple implementations of these charts including Ancestor and Descendant and 1/2, 1/4, and 3/4 versions with many formatting options to choose from.

Take your family tree with you in your pocket! - Going to the library? On a research trip? Headed to a family reunion? Sync a GEDCOM file that you create with Family Tree Legends to your handheld device, and viewing your family tree is now just a few taps away.

Product Highlights

Intuitive Data Entry - Family Tree Legends' intuitive and simple interface makes entering data easy. Simply click on the field for which you want to enter data and type in the information. Data can be entered on a variety of screens accessible from the buttons on the right hand side of the screen.

Facts - For each individual, you can attach any number of Facts and Events. For example, you can attach facts about births, deaths, arrival (to a country), blessing, caste names, etc. Family Tree Legends supports over 100 standard genealogical fact types.

Medical - In Family Tree Legends, you can enter Medical Information (e.g., height, weight, hair color, etc.) for each individual within your family history. In addition, our medical facts section allows you to enter a person's DNA fingerprint using the results of a 12 marker test, or 25 marker tests. However, in order to fully protect the privacy of such a test, the information you enter in this window is stored in an encrypted format, and will not be published or shared, regardless of your online publishing settings. This information will only be exported when you select "Export Private Items" during GEDCOM file export- at which point it will be exported in the encrypted format.

Notes - For each individual in your file, you can create and attach Notes. For example, you can create notes that contain information about births, deaths, arrival (to a country), blessing, caste names, etc. In addition, each note that you create has the ability to be individually privatized.

Addresses - Addresses, phone numbers, and additional contact information can be entered for each individual in your file. This includes: Street, City, State, Postal Code, Country, Phone, URL, and Email.

Names & Aliases - n some cases, members in your family history may have been referred to by another name (e.g., nickname, christened name, etc.). Through the Names & Aliases Window, you can add those additional names to capture all aspects of an individual’s identity.

Navigate - he Navigate feature displays the pedigree chart of the currently selected individual. You can then navigate to other individuals on the pedigree by clicking on their box or clicking on the appropriate arrow button next to an individual box to move the tree one generation to the left or right.

Index & Search - The Index of Individuals allows you to view an expandable list of all individuals within your Family Tree Legends file. Single-clicking on an name displays a summary of the selected individual at the bottom of window. Double-clicking on a name displays the selected individual's home page.  The Search feature allows you to search for individuals within your Family Tree Legends file. Specific criteria can be designated for your search, including: First Name, Last Name, Birth Place, Death Place, Notes, Marriage Notes.

Charts - Through Family Tree Legends' built-in graphical chart function, you can create graphical charts (with backgrounds and frames) that can be printed to share with others. There are many options to help you customize the way your chart looks as well as 30 pre-built templates. For example, Family Tree Legends provides the option to display primary scrapbook images for each individual inside of charts.

You can also export your charts to a file (as an image) so that you can work with them in a graphics editing program. Family Tree Legends can export a Chart to an Image File in the following formats: Adobe PDF (.pdf), Bitmap (.bmp), JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), TIFF (.tif), TGA (.tfa), or PCX (.pcx).

Reports - Family Tree Legends contains every important report that other programs have, including a few that aren't found anywhere else.

• View in Word Processor - this will load the report directly into your default Word Processor (e.g., Microsoft Word).

• Save File to Report - this will allow you to save the report as a Rich Text Format (.rtf) (viewable and editable through any word processor), Adobe PDF, or HTML document.

  
  
  

Scrapbooks - For each individual in your family history, you can create multiple scrapbooks- collections of images, audio, video, and other files (e.g., like a Microsoft Word document). In addition, Family Tree Legends has a built in Slideshow viewer that allows you to see all of the items in your Scrapbook without having to click on them individually.

Books - For each individual and family in your history you can create a Family Book, which includes a selection of reports, lists and summaries, charts, and text items. You can print your book to paper or to a portable document file (a .PDF) for viewing on-screen.

SmartMatches - Family Tree Legends provides you with the ability to instantly connect with all of the family history data published on the GenCircles Web site. SmartMatching intelligently compares the ancestors included in your file to all the ancestors in the Global Tree database, & then displays the matched results. Data contained in SmartMatch results can be evaluated, and then merged directly into your Family Tree Legends file.

SmartMatching allows you to directly incorporate data from the other file into yours. There are two methods for achieving this:
