Product Highlights
Characters:
Prince
Prince John is the Hero of this game. After having been brought back from a
terrible void between life and death, he must reclaim his kingdom, win back his
fiancee and become victorious over a dragon. The Prince can also find and take
better weapons from the scenery to improve his combat skills and resilience in
battle. As the game goes on the prince evolves from a clumsy, na?ve young man
to the most powerful and strongest warrior of all. He has no magical abilities,
but is an excellent leader. All other combat characters are more efficient when
close to the prince.
Warrior
Warrior squads are a basic defense for villages. They protect them both from
wild animals and from attacks from enemy tribes. Of course this character can
also be used to attack other villages. Wearing leather armor and armed with
swords, Warriors are more dangerous than woodbutchers. Exploring the world, they
may find better equipment, helmets, shields, armor and swords, making them more
resistant in combat and causing greater damage to enemies. Similar to
woodbutchers and archers, Warriors recover health lost in combat while sleeping.
Warriors live in Barracks.
Floyd
Once the toughest, most loyal and trustworthy Knight in the prehistory of Once
Upon A Knight but now getting on a bit, Floyd polishes his armor and calls his
warrior into combat together with Prince John in the coming battles to win back
the kingdom from the dark, despicable Lord. He played his own involuntary part
in the prince's disappearance and has his own terrible secret to reveal. Floyd
is a very resilient fighter who can improve his combat abilities during the game
by taking better weaponry and armor when found.
Woodbutcher
The Woodbutcher is one of most important characters; with his giant axe he can
build or repair all houses and other structures, or destroy enemy buildings and
cut trees. But he is not only a man of peace. Wandering about the world, a
Woodbutcher may find better axe types, allowing an increase in damage. So, if
you intend to turn an enemy village into dust, you must have a few Woodbutchers
in your army. A Woodbutcher has high strength and vitality. When he is injured
in combat, he usually takes a regenerating nap. He wakes up fresh as a daisy and
in perfect health. He lives in a Hut.
Mother in Law
The Mother in Law is a highly skilled woman, not attractive, but a powerful
saboteur and diplomat. She can use her qualities properly, together with her
intelligence, to convince the dwellers of any enemy building to swap sides. Her
rolling pin is a convincing argument aiding her success. Using such a character,
you can successfully take over any enemy building. Then she stays inside it for
the duration of the game. A Mother in Law also has another useful ability: all
woodbutchers close to her work 100% faster. She lives in a Hut.
Magicians
Priest
A priest is an old man, who cares for the temple and has made sacrifices to the
gods all his life. This mystical person has magical abilities. He can teleport
himself to any place on the map, use a magical crow to see over long distances,
creates a magical ghost to terrorize enemies and create magic wolves to attack
them. The magical spirit is a burning apparition, which frightens enemies and
causes them to flee outside of a certain radius. He uses no weapons, but can
throw fireballs at enemies. Exploring the world he can find amulets to increase
his resistance, healing speed or rate of regenerating his magical power. The
Priest lives in a Temple.
Monsters:
Witch
As everyone knows witches fly on broomsticks and the Once Upon A Knight witches
are no exception. But, this witch is a little different to the stereotype in
that she does not have black-haired warts on her nose. She can be used for
aerial combat if she is not repairing her broom and is useful against other
magical characters. With her high voice and cackling laughter you will recognize
her immediately. The old girl moans and grumbles a bit but you will like her.
She has a heart of molten lead.
Amazon Sorceress
An Amazon Sorceress is a young, well, but lightly dressed woman with one
powerful magical attribute. Using her magical staff she can create a burning
lightning spell and can roast, fry or boil the enemy very efficiently from a
safe distance without causing casualties among her own people. She can
find and use amulets to increase her resilience in battle and Mana (magical
energy) in the Once Upon A Knight landscape if she is fast enough, for there is
a lot of competition for these valuable gifts.
Monsters:
Minotaur
A long way from Greek mythology and not created by a beautiful white bull and a
queen, but through an unfortunate accident in a sorcerer's laboratory with a
sacrificial roast beef sandwich and the sorcerer's body guard. Players will meet
this aggressive monstrosity several times throughout the game and should beware.
This creature is very strong and is a very talented killer using mostly swords
and axes as his preferred weapons.
Giant
Giants live alone in mountain caves. They do not usually disturb anyone, but
sometimes they approach villages and attack the cows. A Giant is huge and very
strong. A party of several woodbutchers is usually not enough to defeat a giant.
The best units for a fight against a giant are heavily armored Knights who
attack him in a squad. Armed with a powerful club, a giant can crush every
character with a few blows. In Once Upon A Knight we have included several
different kinds of Giants: a Giant family consisting of a male, a female and a
young Giant. Additionally, as a special enemy you have to fight against a Giant
with a huge, mystical egg. What is the story surrounding this egg? No, we
won’t tell you. Just play, and the veils of secrecy will be lifted.
Skeleton
There are various types of skeletons in the game and each type has its own
characteristics and behavior and uses different weapons and armor. They are
conjured up from the underworld in large groups and represent all that is evil.
Their sole objective is your destruction! Beware!
Pilous Mephitis
This creature is a monster created by dark powers. You can meet this “thing”
most often in the vicinity of graveyards, barrows and swamps. It is extremely
dangerous and very fast. If a small party of heroes meets it, they have a rather
small chance of survival. During the game you will meet a variety of mutations
of this creature. They behave similarly, but take care... if you have already
defeated one, do not think the next one is an easy task - you could be wrong.
Animals:
The Cow
The economy of the Once Upon A Knight world is based on milk. Milk is the only
resource, giving woodbutchers the strength to construct buildings. With time
spent on grazing the efficiency of a cow also increases and the Cow goes a
“level up” with each completed milking. So an old, experienced Cow is more
valuable than a new, young one. When attacked a cow runs away in panic to its
shed and remains there. After the enemy has been repelled, the cow should be
sent back to its pasture. Cows have various colors and markings making it easier
to identify them. Of course - Cows live in Cowsheds.
Wolf
Wolves are one of the player's most common opponents. You will often encounter
them while exploring the maps. Some of them are not strong, but they may cause a
lot of damage when they attack in packs. Wolves also attack the characters
controlled by the AI (artificial intelligence). We recommend you to take care of
your cows: don’t allow wolves to approach grazing cows, because the cows can't
defend themselves. A wolf may be tamed by a cowherd. But that’s not always the
best solution. Not all wolves are lapdogs, some are bigger and more dangerous.
They have more HP and cannot be defeated easily.
Bear
The Bear is a wild animal. It is better not to disturb him. It is far more
dangerous than a wolf. A one-to-one fight with a Bear usually ends in victory
for the bear. Bears lives in dense forests, but when he is hungry he may
approach villages. Your heroes in the game will certainly meet the bear face to
face many times. The best way to fight off a bear is a long-range attack using
archers and spearmen. After a shot, the archer can run away, before the bear
gets close to him, then he can shoot once again. A bear can be tamed by a
cowherd, becoming a valuable ally. During the progress of the game you will meet
several kinds of Bears - one more dangerous than the other.
....and many more of each category!
